Advanced Internship Training Components
Josselyn’s Advanced Internship Program provides graduate students with meaningful clinical experience, dedicated supervision, professional development opportunities, and hands-on training designed to prepare future mental health professionals for successful clinical careers.
Meaningful Therapy Experience
Interns gain hands-on clinical experience while building a caseload of up to 10 clients. Opportunities include individual, family, and group therapy with children, adolescents, adults, and families. Interns also learn to complete comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments and gain exposure to a wide range of clinical presentations within a community mental health setting.
Strong Clinical Supervision and Support
Supervision is at the heart of the internship experience. Interns receive weekly individual supervision, administrative and clinical group supervision, and ongoing consultation from experienced clinicians. Real-time support ensures interns are never expected to navigate challenging situations alone.
Crisis Prevention and Ethical Practice
Interns receive training in crisis prevention, risk assessment, safety planning, and mandated reporting responsibilities. Clinical leadership and supervisors provide immediate support when safety concerns arise, helping interns build confidence while maintaining professional and ethical standards.
Direct and Indirect Clinical Hours
Josselyn’s internship structure is designed to support CACREP, CSWE, and other graduate program requirements.

Most interns complete between 600 and 900 hours, depending on program requirements.
Internship Structure & Schedule
Josselyn internships typically last 9 to 12 months and average about 20 hours per week. Most placements are primarily in person, with evening availability expected. The program is structured to support meaningful clinical training while helping students successfully meet their academic requirements.
