Intensive Outpatient Program

A Higher Level of Care For Teens

Care Designed With Teens In Mind

When your teen requires more help than a weekly therapy appointment can accomplish, Josselyn’s Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) provides a higher level of care within a group setting, with the goal of avoiding hospital-based inpatient programs.

Our diverse team of group therapists, family therapists, and psychiatrists/advanced practice nurses (APNs) provide comprehensive care, as well as a continuum of step-down services as teens progress within the program.

What To Expect

A brand new IOP space for teens coming 2022.

  • Teens (13-18) will work together in groups to learn evidenced-based skills needed to cope with mental health challenges including anxiety, depression, impulsivity, and self-injurious behaviors
  • The program includes a weekly family therapy session to ensure support and parental involvement
  • Teens will also receive care from an IOP psychiatrist on a weekly basis
  • Clients must still be enrolled in high school if 18 years of age
  • The IOP is located in its own unique building, away from other clinical services, and is designed with teens in mind
  • Josselyn’s IOP clients meet in one of two cohorts either morning (9 am – 12 pm) or afternoon (1 – 4 pm) at 495 Central Avenue, Northfield, IL to receive care

What To Know

Customized to your teen’s and your family’s individualized needs, your IOP plan will be developed in partnership with other Josselyn and community resources to provide the highest level of coordinated care.

  • The IOP team will coordinate care with each teen’s current outpatient providers, including their outpatient psychiatrist and therapist
  • Coordination with outpatient providers is essential in your teen’s care in order to chart progress and develop an effective discharge plan upon completion of the IOP
  • If your teen does not have current outpatient providers, we will work closely with your family to provide referrals to connect your teen to ongoing care upon their discharge from the IOP
  • This can include individual and family therapy referrals, psychiatric referrals, and group therapy referrals based upon the individualized needs of your teen and family
