Living with Dependency Support Group
Share and Receive Support Alongside Peers
Purpose
To create a safe space for adults looking to live a healthy and fulfilling life without what they depend on. Group will bring adults together who struggle with unhealthy dependencies with people, places, and things such as video games, sex, gambling, alcohol, marijuana, and other narcotics.
- Participant Details – Open to adults of all genders 18 and older.
- Date & Time – Meets Wednesdays, 12 – 1pm, at Josselyn (1135 Skokie Blvd., Northbrook, IL 60062), or virtual via zoom.
- Framework – The group facilitator will spend 15 minutes discussing the nature of dependency. Each week the facilitator will add common themes of dependency that those with dependency share and discuss how to identify where that shows up in each member’s life. The facilitator will express an understanding of a way of living that separates oneself from the influence of the dependency. The facilitator will then express by using his own experience and the experience of others what a good “program of living” looks like to maintain “separation” as well as how new mindsets and new values play a part in creating a fruitful life. The remainder of the session will be discussion based where each person will share their understandings of the material as well as where they are in their own recovery.
- Facilitators – Jess Jacobson, CMHC, (He/Him/His).
