Presenter Bio

Brian Nickerson, MSW, LCSW, is a psychotherapist who works with adults struggling with burnout. Brian started his career as a medical social worker in the University of Michigan’s adult hospital in Ann Arbor. At the onset of the pandemic, Brian volunteered to be the lead social worker on the Regional Infection Containment Unit (RICU), and Michigan Medicine later named him Social Worker of the Year for holding this position through the first wave. That experience inspired him to pivot from supporting patients to supporting the healthcare workers themselves, due to the extreme levels of burnout he witnessed amongst colleagues throughout 2020. Brian took a position as a psychotherapist for the workers and trainees at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago in 2021. He is now in private practice supporting workers in every industry as burnout continues to be the collective mental health challenge that unites us all.
