Objectives
At the conclusion of this workshop, participants will be able to understand:
- Types of abuse
- Causes and risk factors for adult abuse
- Signs and symptoms of adult abuse
- Assessment questions to help determine whether (or not) abuse is occurring
- The roles and responsibilities of professionals/mandated reporters and the role of the APS program
Holly Lichtman, LCSW
Presenter Bio
Holly Lichtman, LCSW, serves as the Program Supervisor for the Adult Protective Services Program within the Senior and Family Services Department at North Shore Senior Center. With 26 years of dedicated service to the organization, she oversees the administration of the Adult Protective Services program, maintains an active caseload, and provides supervision to staff and students.
Throughout her tenure at North Shore Senior Center, Ms. Lichtman has delivered comprehensive case management services, counseled clients and their families, and provided private care management. She also spent 12 years offering on-site social work services within a senior housing community.
Prior to joining North Shore Senior Center, Ms. Lichtman held several clinical roles, including Clinical Manager at a behavioral health managed care organization and Psychiatric Social Worker in both a general hospital in Chicago and a suburban psychiatric hospital, where she worked primarily with adult populations. Early in her career, she coordinated services for older adults and their families at Hull House Association, one of the first community-based agencies dedicated to serving this population.
Ms. Lichtman has been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Illinois since 1989. She earned her Master of Social Work degree from Loyola University Chicago in 1987 and is a member of the National Association of Adult Protective Services Administrators (NAPSA).
