Surrounded by state legislators, donors, board members and staff instrumental to launching Josselyn’s newest site, CEO and President Susan Resko addressed the group who had gathered in Grayslake on February 1st, for the ceremonial ribbon cutting: “I’m proud to unveil this newest Josselyn location to advance Josselyn’s mission to provide high quality, affordable mental health services here in western Lake County. Thousands of lives will be improved each year at this location,” said Resko.

This newest site, located at 100 N. Atkinson Road in Grayslake, will have 40 offices for therapists, psychiatric providers, and telehealth, as well as space for groups and art therapy to meet the needs of our clients.

As State Senator Mary Edly Allen commented, “Mental health care is critical in supporting overall health. As demand for behavioral and mental health services has grown, residents in western Lake County have struggled to find care close to home. The new Josselyn Center in Grayslake is a vital partner in addressing this need in our community, and I am glad to welcome them to the district.”

Launching a site of this magnitude takes a village, and Josselyn is fortunate to have several partners who helped make this expansion into Lake County possible. Thanks to the leadership of State Senators Laura Fine and Mary Edly Allen, and State Representatives Robyn Gabel and Laura Faver Dias, the state made a significant investment in bringing mental health care to this region. Several officials were on hand to mark the occasion including State Senator Laura Fine, State Representative Laura Faver Dias, and representatives from the offices of Congressman Brad Schneider and State Senator Mary Edly Allen.

“For decades, The Josselyn Center has been a reliable resource for mental healthcare in our community. This new facility will expand the positive impact they have on so many individuals and families who are in need of quality, accessible mental healthcare,” remarked Senator Fine.

We are also extremely grateful to Northwestern Medicine and Schreiber Philanthropy, as their generous financial support to Josselyn was critical in launching our Grayslake location.

Joining us that day to celebrate the opening were Northwestern Medicine’s Lake Forest Director of Community Affairs, Anne King, and Practice Manager of Northwestern Medical Group Grayslake Khyla Tatak. Josselyn has a strategic collaboration with Northwestern Medicine to provide mental health care coordination at Northwestern’s Lake Forest and Grayslake locations which provides rapid access to Northwestern patients who are in need of outpatient mental health services to Josselyn therapists. In addition, Schreiber Philanthropy CEO Whitney Smith, and Vice President of Strategic Initiatives Molly Cullum attended the event. Josselyn is grateful for the support of Schreiber Philanthropy, who have been champions of our expansion into Grayslake. To address the severe behavioral healthcare workforce shortage in Lake County, Schreiber Philanthropy has provided scholarships to clinicians who work at Josselyn Lake County locations. These scholarships have been critical in our ability to staff our new locations. Schreiber Philanthropy also supported Josselyn’s Waukegan and Grayslake offices with start up funding.

Resko summed up the event by saying, “With so much gratitude to all who made this special place possible, on behalf of our clients and the clinicians who support them, thank you for helping to bring the vision of Mental health for all to Grayslake in western Lake County.”
