Teen Social Support Group
Share and Receive Support Alongside Peers
Purpose
To create a safe space for teens ages 14-16 years who may need social support and a separate space to discuss any mental health needs they wish to address. Participants will collectively be able to share their lived experiences as they are developing through adolescence, learn coping and symptom management skills, and develop a sense of community with those around them.
- Participant Details – Open to Josselyn clients, including those on our waitlist, who are between the ages of 14-16 years. Open to clients who do not meet the criteria for a higher level of care (such as an IOP or PHP) but are still seeking assistance and knowledge regarding their mental health.
Open to adolescents who may struggle with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, identity development, and building peer relationships. - Date & Time – Meets Tuesdays 5 – 6pm, at Josselyn (204 N Genesee St. Waukegan, IL 60085)
- Framework – Group will begin with a check-in or self-reflection exercise related to recent struggles related to socialization. Group facilitators will open the space for discussion around struggles related to adolescence, navigating their mental health, and other age-appropriate topics. Group members may share how the identified topics relate to their current circumstances. The group will end with a self-reflection and check-out.
- Facilitators – Jennifer Celis, B.A., (She/Her/Hers), Jennifer Colby (She, Her, Hers)
