SPECIALIZED ADOLESCENTS AND KIDS PROGRAMS
Intensive Outpatient Program
A Higher Level of Care For Youth
What To Know
- Josselyn’s new IOP space is for youth ages 8 to 17 (enrolled in fourth grade through high school)
- Located at 100 North Atkinson Road, Grayslake, IL 60030
- Services offered 9 am to 7 pm, Monday – Thursday, and 9 am to 1 pm, Friday
What We Treat
Josselyn’s IOP treats anxiety and mood disorders, school refusal and avoidance, social anxiety, suicidal ideation, self-injurious behavior, and ADHD
- What we don’t treat: primary eating disorders, primary substance use disorders
- Sexually problematic behaviors and physical aggression will be assessed during the intake and staffed with treatment team to determine if appropriate for the program
How We Do It
- Programming time is assigned based on age and developmental level after assessment
- Participants learn evidence-based skills in groups to manage anxiety, depression, impulsivity, and self-harm
- Weekly family therapy sessions support parental involvement
- Participants receive a psychiatric evaluation with follow-up as needed
- IOP therapists coordinate with school personnel to support academics, attendance, and accommodations
Care Designed With Youth In Mind
When your child requires more help than a weekly therapy appointment can accomplish, Josselyn’s Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) provides a higher level of care within a group setting, with the goal of avoiding hospital-based inpatient programs.
Our diverse team of group therapists, family therapists, and psychiatrists/advanced practice nurses (APNs) provide comprehensive care, as well as a continuum of step-down services as participants progress within the program.

What To Know
Customized to your child and your family’s individualized needs, your IOP plan will be developed in partnership with other Josselyn and community resources to provide the highest level of coordinated care.
- The IOP team will coordinate care with each participant’s current outpatient providers, including their outpatient psychiatrist and therapist
- Coordination with outpatient providers is essential in your child’s care in order to chart progress and develop an effective discharge plan upon completion of the IOP
- If your child does not have current outpatient providers, we will work closely with your family to provide referrals to connect your child to ongoing care upon their discharge from the IOP
- This can include individual and family therapy referrals, psychiatric referrals, and group therapy referrals based upon the individualized needs of your child and family
