Many teens and adolescents today face anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges that can disrupt school, friendships, and daily life. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in 2021-2023, about one in five U.S. adolescents ages 12–17 reported symptoms of anxiety or depression in the past two weeks, and by 2023, 40% of high school students experienced persistent feelings of sadness or hopelessness over the past year.
These numbers highlight the growing need for structured support to help youth navigate these challenges. Josselyn’s Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) provides a comprehensive, evidence-based approach to help youth build coping skills, strengthen relationships, and regain balance in their daily lives.
The program creates a safe, welcoming space where youth can participate in group therapy, family support, and individualized care. By addressing mental health holistically, Josselyn empowers youth to develop resilience and confidence while improving functioning at home, at school, and in their communities.
“Our focus is on creating an environment where adolescents feel safe, supported, and understood,” says Clinical Director of Grayslake and the Intensive Outpatient Program, Megan Jaenicke, LCSW. “We want every individual to know that seeking help is a strength, not a stigma, and that they can learn practical tools to manage their mental health and thrive in all areas of life.”
Josselyn’s IOP provides a higher level of care for youth who are experiencing anxiety, depression, or related symptoms that significantly impact daily functioning. The program combines evidence-based group sessions, individualized care, and family involvement to provide comprehensive support tailored to each client’s needs.
