Name: Eric Etherton
Occupation: Assistant Principal Student Services at Glenbrook North High School (GBN)
Relationship To Josselyn: Working in collaboration with Josselyn to implement Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training to 10th – 12th grade students and the staff at GBN.
What draws you to the Josselyn mission?
It is impressive that Josselyn has hired two staff members that are trained in teen and adult MHFA, in addition to its partnership with GBN to lead such a large-scale training over multiple days.
What’s your favorite mental health resource?
Ted Talks that focus on well-being and positivity. My favorite is Amy Cuddy’s Fake It Till You Make it.
What’s the best piece of advice you have ever been given?
Every individual has power when engaged with others – either positive or negative power. Always be aware of this and use this in a positive away to inspire, support, or nurture others.
If you had to teach a class today on one topic, what would you teach?
I would teach a class on respect and acceptance of all individuals and the importance of listening and learning from others. In addition, focusing on the art of being kind and supportive of all people.
