Grades are important, whether we like them or not. For Josselyn, the “grades” we receive for the quality of our clinical care are vital to our ability to operate as a Community Mental Health Center. I’m so proud of our Josselyn team and the work we do that was evident in grades we received on two recent accreditations.

What these grades mean:
For our clients, it means that you are receiving the highest quality of care available. Not all providers are required to undergo this scrutiny, and many don’t. Because it’s hard to do, and costly.

For Josselyn, it means that we can be a Medicaid provider, which allows us to stretch our donor’s dollars by leveraging this Federal and State funding. It means more clients can be treated. And it means they are receiving the highest quality of care at the same time.

Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) = Highest level certification

By receiving the highest level grade possible, Josselyn was awarded a three-year accreditation by this review body. CARF reviews our program against over 1,300 quality standards.

State of Illinois Bureau of Accreditation, Licensure and Certification (BALC) = Highest level certification

Part of the Illinois Department of Human Services, BALC is responsible for assuring that community agencies are conforming to the standards established by the state. As with CARF, we received a three-year accreditation. In fact, Josselyn did not receive any clinical citations in our March 2023 review. Not one.

Both CARF and BALC are designed to protect those people that we serve. At Josselyn, we take very seriously our role in the health and well-being of our clients. It is why we are so proud that our work was recognized by these two entities.

With stellar grades on these two tests, the nearly 200 communities we serve can be proud of their regional center of excellence.
