Camp Neeka is a six-week summer day camp program for children ages 8 – 12. Camp allows for friendships, eliminates isolation and helps build self-esteem. Additionally, the camp is designed within a therapeutic model that emphasizes team building, self-control, positive interaction with others, and social and emotional growth.
Camp Neeka offers typical camp activities including:
- Arts and crafts
- Sensory simulation activities
- Field trips to local venues such as miniature golf
The program includes group discussions around topics that highlight improving the self-esteem, social skills and behavioral management of each camper. Camp staff includes:
- A Director and “Counselors” who are licensed clinicians from The Josselyn Center
- “Assistant Counselors” who are graduate students who are completing internships at The Josselyn Center, along with college students interested in social work, psychology or education
In addition to organizing and directing activities, the staff is prepared to provide individual intervention during the course of the day.
